    1. Hi Marco:)
If you mean changing the "system", as in the Operating System, using command prompt, i'm sorry but it's not possible.
But changing the setting of your hardware using command prompt is possible.
Try these typing these commands in cmd:

      To change remote access settings:
      chhmc -c {ssh | http | websm| xntp} -s {enable | disable} [--help]

To add or remove an entry in the syslog configuration file:
      chhmc -c syslog -s {add | remove} {-a IP-address | -h host-name} [--help]

To add or remove an entry in the network time protocol configuration file:
      chhmc -c xntp -s {add | remove} {-a IP-address | -h host-name} {--ntpversion 1 | 2} [-nm network-mask] [-i interface] [--help]

To configure whether keyboard mapping configuration will occur at the next reboot:
      chhmc -c kbdcfg -s {enable | disable} [--help]

To configure the network as a startup device:
      chhmc -c netboot -s {enable | disable} [--help]

To configure an alternate disk partition on HMC as a startup device:
      chhmc -c altdiskboot -s {enable | disable} --mode {install | upgrade} [--help]

To permit or deny IP addresses from utilizing HMC services:
      chhmc -c {ssh | websm | http | service} -s {add | remove} -a IP-address [-nm network-mask] [-i interface] [--help]

    2. If you want to get info about your system’s BIOS, then type this command:
      wmic bios get name,serialnumber,version

If you want to quickly find out what’s the CPU clock speed, then type this command:
      wmic cpu get name,CurrentClockSpeed,MaxClockSpeed

Also if you have turbo boost CPUs you can find out what’s the Max Clock Speed your system is capable of for the current configuration. Of course you can always overclock your CPU and that will too reflect the change.

If you do have dynamic clock speed running and you want to monitor the Clock speed every 1 second, type this command:
      wmic cpu get name,CurrentClockSpeed,MaxClockSpeed /every:1

Hope i've answered your questions correctly. For more information about accessing BIOS thru command prompt, please visit: http://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to-find-out-bios-motherboard-and-cpu-info-from-command-line

  2. There are types of Operating System in our generation, are there possibilities that the old version of OS will remove/upgrade in the future?
How does the latest OS improve our Computer ?
Does the latest OS suitable for any types of computer ?

Thanks for the answer in advance

    1. Yes, there is a possibility that older versions of operating system will be removed in the future. 5 years from now, inventors will surely release new trend. Who knows, it may be a 128 bit processor that creates hologram, and old versions of OS will not be compatible for that. So geniuses have to create another OS that suits the demand in the market and stop the production of those with no demand.

  3. Hi maam, what inconveniences that a user can face while interacting with a computer system, which is without an operating system?

    1. Using computer without an operating system is almost close to impossible. But it is possible, however, it will be extremely difficult for the user to do that.

For example, if you want to create a document in a word processing program, you have to start from scratch. You have to write codes to tell your computer to create a word processing program, then another code to create characters (recognizing keyboard input) you want, and another one to display those characters in the screen. You are also in charge of writing codes about formatting the layout of the document. You have to create codes to tell computer what exactly to do.

And it will perform one process at a time. You may spend a month writing codes just to create one document.

    1. Hi Crizel :)
Mac OS in a closed-source OS (like windows). Most applications created for MAC OS are not open source and are build on libraries that are not open source. And Mac OS is evidently more expensive than Ubuntu.

    2. Regarding to your question about which OS performs better, it really depends on the tools you need.

Say for instance, you are in-line with editing photos and videos thru Adobe, then i suggest you use Mac OS. Adobe was created for OS X, so it works best in Mac.

If you are in-line with programming and web-developing, i suggest Ubuntu.

what is the sense of CMD in our computer?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In this modern era, typing commands are so outdated. Why do we have to waste our time typing, when life would be better if we're using mouse?

We're still using command prompt because there are some things you can only do from the command line, even on Windows. Some of these tools don’t have graphical equivalent, so you have to manipulate them manually.

  10. what is the best OS that we can use in our computer? and why ma'am?

    ReplyDelete

    1. For me, the best operating system you can use is Ubuntu.
You don't have to spend money for it's license because it is free. Updates are also available almost anytime. Useful programs and drivers are pre-installed. Your files are more secured. And it has minimum RAM, Hard Disk space, and processor speed required.

    1. Yes Abraham, you should always update your softwares. Updates contain important changes to improve the performance, stability and security of the applications that run on your computer. Installing them ensures that your software continues to run safely and efficiently. Keep in mind that many web exploits look for outdated software with unpatched security flaws.

What is the relationship between operating systems and computer hardware?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Michael, I think i have discussed the relationship of OS and Hardware in your class. Nonetheless, Operating System is responsible in recognizing keyboard and mouse inputs. It also convert these inputs into characters that are displayed in the monitor. Operating system manage the storage of you data. It assigns specific address to store you data, you can access your files anytime. Operating system is also responsible with the drivers and other peripherals.
In other words, computer hardware is completely useless, unless it is being managed by the Operating System.

How Buffering can improve the performance of a Computer system?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Gene :)
If CPU and Input/Output devices are nearly same at speed, the buffering helps in making the CPU and the Input/Output devices work at full speed in such a way that they never sit idle at any moment.
Buffering is useful for those jobs that have a balance between computational work and I/O operations. But other cases, buffering scheme may not work well.

    1. I recommend using Ubuntu :)
Ubuntu provides more security than windows. Most of the softwares you need are available in Ubuntu Software Manager. You don't have to restart you PC as often as you did with Windows.

  17. Hello Maam :)
In Windows, there are System features na hindi mo magagamit o magagawa sa Windows, what are those? And bakit hindi ito gumagana sa Ubuntu? and the differences of the two it seems na maganda namang gamitin ang Ubuntu, but why is the Windows parin ang kalimitang ginagamit ng mga Users? Dahil ba applicable at marami itong features na madaling magets ng nakararami o may iba pa pong reasons?

    2. Some features work in Windows but not in Ubuntu, simply because they have completely different kernels. Kernel (also called nucleus) is a computer program that constitutes the central core of a computer's operating system. It has complete control over everything that occurs in the system.

Windows and Ubuntu are written in different languages, so they don't understand each other.
